What you need to get started

We’d love to learn a little more about you, answer any questions you may have, and walk through what it looks like to be part of the READY team. Use the link below to schedule a quick phone call at a time that works best for you.

Required for Every Session

Fully charged smartphone with a high-quality camera

Phone charger and/or a portable power bank
Sessions are long enough that a phone may drain quickly, especially while photographing and uploading.

Reliable transportation

Session details
Bring or have access to the client’s name, address, appointment time, session type, wardrobe/app instructions, and any pre-session notes.

Photo capture checklist
A simple checklist to be made ahead of time for categories: tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, shoes, handbags, belts, jewelry, accessories, special occasion, seasonal, etc.

A small notebook and pen

Phone grip or wrist strap
Small thing, but useful when working quickly around expensive clothing, mirrors, closets, and private homes.

Water bottle and small snack
You will be working independently for several hours, and you should not need to use the client’s kitchen.

Clean socks or indoor shoes
This makes the in-home experience feel polished and respectful. You will want to ask the client in your initial introduction if they are a “shoes-off” house.

Professional In-Home Kit

Below is a list of items we have found incredibly useful. They are all highly recommended for your professional in-home kit

Neutral backdrop cloth, foldable white/cream poster board, and/or a Lightbox for capturing shoes
A set up like the one featured here can be invaluable for quickly capturing lots of pairs of shoes. A simple white poster board can serve as an impromptu background for lots of clothing items. Sometimes closet setups can be tricky; we advise you to decide on a system that works to quickly, efficiently produce consistently high-quality photos to upload into the application.

Closet Dividers / Clothing Organizers
Oftentimes it becomes difficult to tell exactly what you’ve photographed versus what is left to photograph. Using closet dividers like these can make your task clearer, and can help you remember where clothing was originally located in the closet.

An over-the-door hook / temporary hanging hook and some temporary neutral hangers
Only for temporary photographing, not replacing the client’s hangers. These are helpful if the closet has no clean place to photograph hanging pieces. We have found these over the door hooks to be extremely helpful.

Step Stool or Collapsible Step Ladder

Hand sanitizer

Lint roller
Use lightly only when appropriate. Ready is not a cleaning or closet-organizing service, so this should be for quick presentation only, not garment care.

Small pack of gentle wipes
For the your own hands. Avoid cleaning client belongings.

Neutral tote or work bag

Portable phone tripod or phone stand
Strongly recommended for photograph consistency and speed.

Microfiber cloth
For wiping the phone lens throughout the session.

Mini extension cord

Earbuds if you’d like to listen to music, podcast, or audiobook while you photograph

Personal Presentation & Client Introductions

On photography days, we advise you wear a polished, comfortable outfit with minimal fragrance, neat hair, and no bulky jewelry as we don’t want anything to snag on a client’s delicate fabrics.

When arriving at a client’s house, we ask that you always arrive five minutes earlier than the stated appointment time. Before unloading your kit and materials, we ask that you introduce yourself at the client’s door in a professional manner. Ask about your client’s shoe preferences (shoes-on or shoes-off house?) Proceed to ask to see the closet in its entirety, take a picture of the unworked closet, and ensure that you have seamless access to the application. Then, and only then, should you begin unloading your kit and moving it into the house.

Some helpful tips:

  • Inform the client that they may need to be briefly available at the beginning and end of your session for a two-factor authentication on their end

  • Always have your client’s phone number on-hand

  • Take pictures immediately upon entering the closet. Not only will this help you ensure that you’ve put the clothes back where they belong at the end of your session, but this also insures you in case someone should happen to claim something is missing or disturbed during the photography process.

  • Please do not take personal phone calls while in a client’s house

  • Do not bring any drinks besides water with you while you photograph. Do not eat around the clothes.

  • Do not use pins or pushpins on the client’s clothing or walls unless they explicitly state that that is acceptable for a particular piece of clothing (i.e. an article of clothing they already have pinned onto a hanger to prevent it falling)

  • Do not move the client’s furniture

  • Do not try on the client’s clothing

  • And finally, you’ll meet with the client during the last 15 minutes of your session. In order to ensure they are available for that meeting, please inform them 30 minutes before you plan to finish capturing their wardrobe.

Inside a READY Session

READY sessions are designed to feel seamless, efficient, and elevated for the client. Curators arrive at the client’s home, walk through the process together, and begin building their digital wardrobe system.

A typical session includes:

+ Greeting the client and reviewing the session flow
+ Photographing wardrobe and accessory items using a smartphone
+ Uploading and organizing items into the digital wardrobe system
+ Working independently and efficiently throughout the session
+ Maintaining professionalism and discretion inside the home
+ Meeting briefly with the client at the end to review the app and answer questions

This role is not focused on cleaning, organizing, folding, or styling closets. READY is a wardrobe digitization service centered around creating a clean and searchable digital wardrobe experience for clients.
